![]() ![]() Download the Mac OS X 10.4 or greater demo version NOTE: If you have a licensed previous version of Latin Squares, do NOT install this shareware version over the top of it in hopes of upgrading it. The licensed and shareware versions are compiled separately, and you'll only end up with the shareware version. The current version is 2.0. The price of the licensed version is $19.95. Ordering information Latin Squares is a game of logic and deduction. The goal is to place one of each of the letters into each row, column and tile. Each puzzle is guaranteed to have one and only one solution. The puzzle gives you clues that relate where letters in particular tiles have to be (relative to each other), and using those clues you remove possibilities from the playing board until you can place letters where they must be located. ![]() The Latin Squares tutorial will show you some of the many deductions you can make in this game. Larger precalculated puzzle filesIf you purchase the licensed version of Latin Squares 2.0 online and download your licensed copy, the 6x6, 7x7, and 8x8 puzzles will be limited to "only" 15000 puzzles. If you find that insufficient, you can download the file LSPRE.EXE and run it to install the complete set of precalculated puzzles (39717 for 6x6, 65536 for 7x7, and 41833 for 8x8). NOTE: if you purchase the licensed version on CD, it will include ALL of the above precalc files, so this download will do you no additional good. NOTE: if you only have the shareware version of the game, this download will do you no additional good, as the shareware version still won't recognize any puzzles beyond the shareware limits. ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE FILES (LOCALIZATION)This game can be "localized". Almost all of the text used in the menus and dialogs are stored in a separate ASCII text file, and the Help screens are stored in another ASCII text file. These files can be translated to other languages (English and Danish are currently included with the game). The Danish translations were done by Michael Madsen. Below are the other available translations that have been done after the release of the game. To use them, you will need to download and run the desired language installation file. The default folder for the game is C:\EKS\LS, and the language files are stored in the LANGUAGE sub-folder. The self-extracting ZIP files (EXE files) include the LANGUAGE sub-folder, so you just need to specify where the game is installed (if different than the default). 1) Download the desired language installation file. The available translation languages are: Deutsch
(German) - strings only, no help, from Stephan Schmid If you're interested in translating the strings or help into another language, see the Keys, Toolbar, and The Menus Help screen, which has a section that discusses this subject. Also, there are comments at the beginning of the STR_language.TXT and HLP_language.TXT files that describe the format. KINT Interpreter Source CodeIf you're interested in the KINT interpreter source codes (which are mentioned on the Help page about porting the game to non-Microsoft OS's) see the KINT web page. This will NOT be of interest to you, I suspect, unless you're a programmer. Contact information:
